NIS 2
The NIS2 directive makes it compulsory to carry out an attack surface exposure audit. This type of audit involves assessing the level of security of information systems by identifying vulnerabilities, such as unnecessary services, open ports or configuration errors, which could be exploited by attackers.
By mapping all digital assets and assessing interconnections with third parties (suppliers, partners, etc.), it becomes possible to reduce the attack surface. This approach is in line with the main objective of NIS2: to strengthen resilience in the face of cyber threats by adopting a risk-based approach. A regular audit will ensure that compliance requirements are met, thereby avoiding the penalties provided for in the Directive in the event of non-compliance.
As well as ensuring compliance, it enables the level of existing security measures to be assessed, while minimising the potential impact of incidents by identifying corrective actions, and also reinforcing the confidence of stakeholders.
